Youtube, Projects and Mountain Dew

July 2, 2010

I’m sitting here watching “The Mentalist” at a super low volume, probably too low to understand what the f is going on. I’m not really paying attention anyway. Anyway, I’ve been doing lots of Youtube parodies lately. Parodies are cool, but I’ve been doing so many of them that I am itching to do more original music. I would love to start writing some original music for some of these really talented youtubers. I really really really want to write and produce a couple of original songs with Jodie Rivera aka Venetian Princess. I’m hoping we can do that in the near future.

I also had the chance to play guitar for “One Love” which is a project created by Adam Scott. He’s a super talented singer/songwriter and I got to play guitar in his band for a gig at Six Flags in NJ. I hope I get the chance to play with them again. I am also involved in an interesting project called Red Handed Jill. Deana, the singer of RHJ just got back from Seattle, where she recorded a duet with legendary Queensryche front man, Geoff Tate. I’m looking forward to hearing the final mix and hoping it makes our record.

I’m still chugging away with the guys in The Unattended, gearing up for a cool festival gig in CT. I’ll also be writing some music for a workout dvd, and hopefully writing and recording some more music for fitness celebrity John Basedow.

Anyway, enough updating for tonight. I’m tired and The Mentalist is boring the shit out of me.

Happy Holidays!!

December 14, 2009

So I’m having an interesting, fun experience this festive season making a holiday jam for Fitness Celebrity John Basedow. The song is called “Lets Make Fitness a Part of Christmas” Its a fun little rap, and I had a blast creating the tune. It seems like everyone else out there was using “Carol of the Bells” as their platform to put a beat behind. I decided to just throw the main melody behind the verse beats, and rock out the chorus’ with some loud ass guitar. The tune is traditionally in 3/4 but I switched it up to flow as 4/4. The hook is pretty bad ass, with amazing female vocals by Caroline Barringer. John has made some videos about it, and will be releasing the whole song soon.

Tofurkey Day and the Latest VP Parody!

November 28, 2009

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! My girl and I had a wonderful tofurkey. It might not look that appetizing, but god damn, it was good!

I also wrapped up the “3” Parody for Venetian Princess.

I’m working on a few things for Fitness Celebrity John Basedow! I have a bunch of other things I got asked to work on, but I can’t let the cat out of the bag yet!

Music Made Simple

October 22, 2009

I’m currently working on some short jingles for Fitness Celebrity John Basedow. I actually met John through Twitter. He came in to the studio on Sunday night and I captured all of his vocals. Right now I’ve been laying down the beats and adding some funkadelic style music behind the vox. Sounds great so far! Hoping to wrap it up this weekend, after I add some female vocals down.

My name is Steve Goldstein. I am a starving musician, well actually I’m not starving right this second, I’ve had 2 and a half dinners today. But anyway, I am, more or less, a starving musician—and I’m trying not to be. I work a 9-5 job in ad operations and I fill every other hour with music. I’m trying to be a very full, very paid, very successful musician/songwriter—and I’m kind of on my way.

I’ve had the incredible good luck to work with a number of bands including The Unattended, The Rosies, Eva Adalai and recently some very cool, very talented and influential artists including YouTube superstar Venetian Princess, Jill Hanner, The Computer Nerd and some other cool people that I won’t tell you about just yet (this is the part where I keep you interested and you keep coming back. )

This blog is my way of keeping track, and sharing my experiences with you and letting you into my crazy music-filled world, and maybe you will let me into yours.
